Peta Clark appointed Regional Director for Northern and Yorkshire & Humber

19 Mar 2026

Peta Clark has been appointed as the new Regional Director for the Northern and Yorkshire & Humber regions.

She stepped into the role on an interim basis this week, succeeding Sarah Dodsworth, who has begun an interim post as Regional Director for the West Midlands.

Peta brings a wealth of experience to the position. She previously served as Head of Operations for both the Yorkshire & Humber and Northern regions and is dual qualified as an Adult and Child Registered Nurse, as well as a solicitor. During her 18 years with the RCN, she has held a range of senior roles, including Senior Officer and Professional Lead for Children and Young People.

Before joining the RCN, Peta worked in children’s oncology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and later at St James’ Hospital in Leeds. She qualified as a solicitor in private practice in 2008.

Peta said:

“I'm both delighted and excited to be leading the RCN teams in the Northern and the Yorkshire & Humber regions as Regional Director.

“It’s a privilege to lead and work with a team of committed, experienced and passionate staff and reps. The RCN plays a crucial role in supporting, protecting, and advocating for nursing and nurses, and we will continue to fight to ensure safe staffing and fair pay.

“Nursing has been undervalued for far too long. Now, more than ever, we have a real opportunity to drive meaningful change for our members through our work on nursing profiles and the Band 5 review. This work has the potential to influence pay and recognition for nurses across every sector.

"I’m looking forward to tackling the challenges facing nursing today and into the future, and to celebrating our many achievements.”
