Learning outcomes

Sandi Northwood

Sandi Northwood brings over 45 years of nursing experience in the UK, specializing in Intensive Therapy Units (ITU) and healthcare management across both the NHS and private sector. She has successfully commissioned two brand-new private hospitals in the UK.
For the past 17 years, Sandi has worked in Medical Assistance, auditing overseas hospitals to ensure compliance with medical and quality standards. She has been a key member of AXA for the last 13 years.
Her expertise includes serving as a Flight Nurse and completing numerous repatriations across all five continents. In addition, Sandi is an active member of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (RCN) Steering Committee for Critical Care and Flight Nursing.
Sebastien Lizeau

Sébastien began his nursing career in France after completing his nursing degree and started working in the French West Indies. While developing his expertise in the Emergency Department, he expanded his role to become a flight nurse in French Guiana, providing pre-hospital care with SAMU 973 via helicopter and stretcher transfers on commercial carriers. He also gained valuable experience in remote environments as part of an Aeromedical Evacuation team in Mali.
Currently, Sebastien works at the International SOS Assistance Centre as a Medical Trainer, while continuing to serve as a medical escort within the assistance team. His career reflects a strong commitment to emergency care, aeromedical operations, and clinical training in diverse and challenging settings.
Taylor El Hage

Taylor El Hage is a Security Manager at International SOS, where he is responsible for the crisis management, applied intelligence analysis, and operational planning of clients working in the EMEA region.
He has extensive experience in Africa and the Middle East and has led escalation/crisis response to several military coups, natural disasters, and armed conflicts in these regions since beginning in role. In 2023, he helped to direct hundreds of successful security evacuations following the 7 October attacks in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
Driven by the intersection of technology and the geopolitics of the Anthropocene, Taylor is also a scenario planning practitioner, having undertaken consultancy work for a range of private, public, and supranational organisations. He holds a BA (Hons) in modern languages from the University of Warwick and an MSc in international security and global governance from Birkbeck, University of London.
Ines Cruz

Ines Cruz is Deputy Nurse Manager at International SOS London Assistance Centre, a role she has held since early 2022. She joined International SOS in 2020 as a Coordinating Nurse and has extensive experience in global medical assistance and clinical care. Ines trained as a nurse in Portugal, worked in one of Lisbon’s main hospitals, before moving to the UK in 2015. In the UK, she continued her clinical practice within the NHS at Northampton General Hospital. Ines holds a Master’s in Healthcare Management, has experience as a flight nurse, and has played a key role in the development and delivery of Medical Escort training for nurses and doctors at International SOS. Her diverse background in acute care and global medical assistance enables her to provide expert support in fast-paced and complex environments.
Dawn Heeger

Dawn Heeger is a Registered Nurse with a Critical Care background and more than 12 years of experience in the global medical assistance and repatriation industry. She has managed many commercial medical repatriations worldwide, working at the intersection of aviation medicine, clinical risk assessment, and medical case management. Her roles have included Head of Aeromedical Assistance, Chief Nurse, senior medical case manager, clinical governance contributor, and trainer for new flight nurses.
Dawn is also the author of Let’s Talk Flight Nursing: A Beginner’s Guide to Medical Repatriation, a practical guide designed to support nurses curious about entering the medical assistance and flight nursing field. Her work focuses on safety, understanding operational readiness, and strengthening the professional identity of flight nurses.
She is part of the RCN Critical Care and Flight Nursing Forum and is committed to advancing education, standards, and collaborative practice across the sector.
Ciara Collins

Ciara originally from Ireland trained and completed nurse training in London, qualifying in 2005. After a short time on the wards Ciara moved to general intensive care where her passion for critical care was born. Ciara has 16 years’ experience in critical care nursing covering general, burns and cardio thoracic intensive care- transplantation and mechanical support. Prior to her current role as Matron for Critical Care in Harefield Hospital she was lead nurse for ECMO.
Ciara holds post registration courses in intensive care nursing, mentorship and leadership and management. She is an ECMO CNS and is trained in mechanical life support.
Ciara found her love for cardio-thoracic, transplantation and mechanical support nursing when she joined Harefield in 2011. Ciara is a passionate NHS leader and strives to ensure that the team are well supported in all aspects of their role, professionally, academically and psychologically.
Ciara’s motivation to join the forum was to help bring critical care nursing back to the forefront. She would like to network with other experts in the field and help guide the direction of critical care nursing on a national level.

Bookings can also be made via email with a downloaded booking form with credit card details or payment/remittance advice emailed to eventsreg@rcn.org.uk.
All bookings will be confirmed in writing.
You will not be registered for this event unless payment accompanies your application. Places cannot be held provisionally.
The RCN reserves the right to refuse any booking at any time.

To pay by invoice you must send all of the below to eventsreg@rcn.org.uk
• A copy of the Purchase Order document from your organisation or company (we cannot process your order without it).
• Your Finance department/accounts payable contact email address to receive an electronic copy of the invoice from us.
• A completed RCN Events Booking Form for each delegate in the booking.
Once the invoice has been raised, you will then receive confirmation of your delegate booking on the event requested. Invoices are to be paid within 30 days of the invoice being issued.
