Wales鈥檚 ageing population and chronic disease rate makes it more dependent upon healthcare. What is evident from this report is that the demand for registered nurses has not diminished and the reliance agency staff has increased.
RCN Wales took centre stage this week with the launch of 鈥楢n Act of Compassion鈥, a film 鈥 published with a companion book鈥 detailing the organisation鈥檚 success in lobbying for legislation to improve patient care.
The unanimous decision by the health trade unions in Wales to accept the pay proposals from the Welsh Government follows a month-long consultation with RCN Welsh members and comes on the back of the RCN鈥檚 successful 鈥淪crap the Cap鈥 campaign.
Sixty-six percent of members who voted in the RCN Wales consultation said 鈥淵es鈥 to the deal. The results were accepted by the College鈥檚 Trade Union Committee and endorsed by the RCN Welsh Board and RCN Council.
